Really good watch. It took me a few attempts to get into it, but once I properly committed, I ended up loving it. The themes throughout the season were really cool and Askeladd was such an interesting antagonist. I hated him at the start for obvious reasons but by the end of the season I almost liked him purely because of his aura and the way the story makes you realise every situation has two sides. My favourite moment was probably the fight with Thorkell in the snow where Thorfinn and Askeladd end up working together for a moment. Such a cool dynamic between characters that are supposed to hate each other. Canute’s development was a little predictable to me, but still really interesting seeing how Askeladd basically manipulated everything into reality like a long game of chess no one saw coming. Really keen to see what season two brings. The best part is that they clearly put love into more than just the main character, with multiple strong character arcs happening throughout the season.
